Protect Our Biodiversity!
People & Planet Before Pipelines!
Save Old Growth!

Join Old-growth Vancity and Climate Convergence as we hold space and raise our voices for biodiversity at an action coinciding with the United Nations COP 15 biodiversity conference currently taking place in Montreal.

DID YOU KNOW? B.C. has the most biodiversity, meaning the highest variety of plants, animals and fungi, in all of Canada, but the laws we have to protect it are practically toothless.

“Unlike six other provinces and the United States, which shares transboundary and migratory species with B.C. — including caribou, songbirds and spotted owls — British Columbia has no stand-alone endangered species law. Instead, it relies on an uncoordinated mish mash of legislation to conserve plants and animals, including the Forests and Range Practices Act, the Oil and Gas Activities Act, and the Environment and Land Use Act.” – Sarah Cox, “British Columbia’s looming extinction crisis”.

At COP15, the UN Biodiversity Conference, Premier David Eby made the supposedly ambitious promise of protecting 30% of B.C.’s land by 2030, but both Indigenous knowledge and Western science say that’s just not enough.

Together, we demand that Premier Eby:
