At a press conference in early December, the CEO of Trans Mountain announced that pipe for the Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion (TMX) project will be in the ground before Christmas day 2019. This hasty declaration is a call to everyone who opposes TMX and Tar Sands expansion to take to the streets and make our demands heard loud and clear all the way to Alberta and the Federal government in Ottawa!
Despite six ongoing court challenges from Indigenous nations in the Federal Court of Appeal; 1,200 outstanding permit applications in BC; the potential devastating environmental impact; and the massive waste of at least $20 billion tax-payer dollars – the Federal government continues to push ahead with TMX.
It is no coincidence that meanwhile, Federal government approval for the massive oil-sands Teck Frontier Mine in the Alberta is expected any day. If built, this mine will produce 260,000 barrels of bitumen each day at its peak, making it one of the largest oilsands mines — if not the largest — to ever be built in Alberta.
Join Climate Convergence for this urgent action as we continue to organize and mobilize to stop the Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion and Tar Sands expansion. Without ongoing protest and resistance this pipeline would have already been built, together we can make sure it never is!
All welcome. Bring your friends and family!
