This year’s Federal Election in Canada takes place in the midst of the worldwide climate crisis – and a growing international movement demanding big changes to “business as usual” to save humanity and the planet.

It also comes after four years of anger and frustration at the Trudeau government’s unwillingness to meet the climate challenge in any real and meaningful way. Despite previous election promises and the declaration of a national “climate emergency” – the Trudeau government purchased the Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion project for $4.5 billion from the Canadian taxpayers pocket. After four years of Trudeau, Canada is still nowhere close to its United Nations climate commitments.

While most mainstream political parties running in the Federal Election promise more comprehensive and efficient climate solutions than all the others, it’s important for the climate justice movement to look at the Federal Election in the framework of our urgent and ongoing work to build a just and sustainable world. To achieve this we day we need a climate justice government. During this Federal Election we must ask:

What’s at Stake?
What are Our Expectations?
What do We do the Day After the Election?

Join Climate Convergence and representatives of other grassroots climate justice organizations to discuss these critical issues, and where we need to focus our ongoing work in the coming months and years.
