September 24, 2019
4-6PM
401 Burrard St, Vancouver, BC
From September 20 to 27 people around the world will be responding to teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg’s call for massive coordinated global climate strikes. Organized in Vancouver by the Sustainabiliteens and Climate Strike Canada – students are organizing daily actions culminating in mobilization on Friday, September 27.
Here’s the event link for the September 27th strike
Building up to September 27, local grassroots climate justice organizations will be taking over the intersection in front of the Environment and Climate Change Canada Office to highlight to catastrophic failure of the Canadian government to respond to to the climate crisis – especially with their $4.5 billion purchase of the Trans Mountain Pipeline and Expansion Project. The local situation is urgent, as they prepare to use a massive tunnel-boring machine to construct a 2.6-km tunnel through Burnaby Mountain.
As people living in a country where the government declares a “Climate Emergency” one day and approves a massive Tar Sands pipeline the next, we need to make sure the Trudeau government knows we aren’t fooled by their cynical maneuvers, and support the students who are leading the fight for climate justice. We cannot allow them to sacrifice a sustainable future for the sake of corporate profits.
Join us to help build the September 27 mass mobilization, and say, “No TMX Pipeline in a Climate Emergency!”
