Hey Trudeau and Horgan: NO TMX & CGL PIPELINES!
TMX Fire Hazard – Don’t Burn our Future!
RCMP Out of Wet’suwet’en Now!
Drop All Charges Against Wet’suwet’en Land Defenders!

LIGHT SIGN DISPLAY and BANNER DROP

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 12
4pm

Meet at Hastings Street and Sperling Avenue
North Burnaby

Just one week into 2022 and we have more reasons than ever before fight against the Trans Mountain Expansion (TMX) and Coastal GasLink (CGL) pipelines. The Liberal Trudeau government, Horgan NDP provincial government and their big businesses backers continue to cut corners and disregard both people and the planet as they try to ram the TMX and CGL pipelines into existence. Both pipelines are far from completed. Our new years resolution is to get them canceled!

Trans Mountain, who is building the TMX pipeline, is trying once again to disregard City of Burnaby public safety bylaws, as confirmed by Burnaby Fire Chief Chris Bowcock. Trans Mountain knows the Tank Farm and expansion project has already put tens of thousands of Burnaby residents and SFU students at grave fire risk, and its refusal to meet minimum City bylaw standards show again how little concern they have for all our lives.

The environmental and human disaster does not end there. Trans Mountain is now trying to change the TMX pipeline route after initial attempts to drill under the Fraser River caused dangerous sinkholes and leaked poisonous drilling fluid into a Coquitlam water source. The TMX pipeline is a slow motion disaster waiting to explode out of control.

Meanwhile Wet’suwet’en land defenders and allies continue to face an escalation of militarized RCMP forces surrounding them as they try to defend their traditional territories from Coastal GasLink fracked-gas pipeline construction. 29 people were brutally arrested on November 18 and 19 and we must continue to demand that all charges against land defenders be dropped immediately! While the BC NDP government pretends it has nothing to do with the repression and violation of human rights the invasion of the RCMP is in fact authorized and funded (with our tax dollars!) by the Provincial government.

Join Climate Convergence for a Light Sign Display and Banner Drop demanding “STOP TMX & CGL PIPELINES!” as we continue this important and necessary public campaign!

Bring your friends. Bring a mask. Wear warm clothes!
