We have more reasons than ever before to fight for the cancellation of the climate destroying Trans Mountain Expansion (TMX) and Coastal GasLink (CGL) pipelines.
In late February the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released their Sixth report. This report is clear: climate change is already taking a tremendous toll on humanity, and the window to avoid catastrophic environmental consequences is “Rapidly closing.”
Canada is already the G7 country with the highest per-capita greenhouse gas emissions. The TMX and CGL pipelines will deepen Canada’s devastating and disproportionate impact on the global climate. Still, the federal Liberal government and the and BC Provincial governments continue to insist that a new dirty Tar Sands and hydraulically fractured “natural gas” pipelines are in our interests.
We say no way! TMX and CGL pipelines will pour hundreds of thousands of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, destroy fragile ecosystems, and trample over Indigenous rights.
Join Climate Convergence as we set up at this busy rush hour Intersection with signs, banners, and hand out information about about the TMX pipeline and fighting back against the climate crisis!
Together We Can STOP the TMX and CGL Pipelines!
This will be a socially distant action. Bring a mask. Families welcome.
