From wildfires and severe drought here in British Columbia, to devastating floods in Pakistan and hurricanes in the Caribbean, the climate emergency is everywhere.

Despite this, the Trudeau Liberal government continues to press ahead with the construction of the Trans Mountain Expansion (TMX) pipeline. On top of the environmental disaster it imposes, the TMX pipeline also comes at a huge cost to taxpayers, who are already on the hook for at least $17 billion of TMX debt, according to a report just released by economist Robyn Allen and West Coast Environmental Law.

Meanwhile, drilling for the Coastal GasLink (CGL) fracked gas pipeline began under the Wedzin Kwa (Morice River) on Wet’suwet’en territory in Northern B.C. in early October. This drilling has begun despite the opposition of the Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chiefs and community members whose unceded land it crosses.

The federal Liberal government and B.C. NDP government continue to give lip service to environmental concerns and Indigenous rights — while pressing ahead with massive resource extraction projects which completely disregard both. They don’t care about people or the planet, and neither do the oil and gas companies that they subsidize.

Join Climate Convergence as we set up at this busy rush hour Intersection with signs, banners, and hand out information about the TMX and CGL pipelines and fighting back against the climate crisis!

System Change Not Climate Change!
