Goodbye 2024 (the hottest year on record)! Here’ Goodbye 2024 (the hottest year on record)! Here’s to another year in the struggle for a better, sustainable, and just world! System change, not climate change! 🌏✊🌏✊ In 2024, Climate Convergence Metro Vancouver organized and supported over 15 public actions for climate justice across the Lower Mainland: 1 international webinar, 4 banner drops, 3 tabling activities, 6 street actions and rallies, and 2 get togethers for painting banners. Over the past 12 months, Climate Convergence continued to join the local and international struggle in defense of Mother Earth. We organized and supported events highlighting the struggle against climate destruction from Palestine to Latin America to across Canada and here in British Columbia. This included three united actions with the Vancouver Climate Strike Coalition - bringing thousands of people to the streets demanding that the Federal Liberal government and the Provincial BC NDP government put people and planet before the interests of pipelines and profit. In May of 2024, the disastrous and climate destroying Trans Mountain pipeline expansion (TMX) bought by the Trudeau Liberal government went into operation. Our demands have shifted from Stop the TMX pipeline to Shut Down the TMX pipeline, and the struggle continues! In 2025, we must continue to build a more united and stronger international climate justice movement! Every day there are more climate disasters reminding us that working together and mobilizing for climate justice is our only option.
