As the countdown to the United Nations Climate Change Conference begins, the Canadian government is again trying to promote itself internationally as a leader on climate action. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Disregarding both public health and the health of the planet, they continue to try and ram the TMX Tar Sands pipeline construction through BC and Alberta.

The recent UN IPCC report was clear: the world faces catastrophic environmental consequences. Meanwhile Minister of Environment and Climate Change Johnathan Wilkinson cynically claims we somehow need to expand fossil fuels to fund the transition away from them. This is the opposite of leadership on climate action!

The real climate leaders are the countless groups and individuals who continue to organize and mobilize to stop this climate disaster pipeline from being built in the first place. There’s still time – the pipeline is only one third built, and is more costly and behind schedule every day.

Join Climate Convergence as we set up at this busy rush hour Intersection with signs, banners and an information table for people to learn about the TMX pipeline and the climate crisis – and how to join the climate justice movement fighting for a better and sustainable world.

This will be a socially distant action. Bring a mask. Families welcome.
