Last week Climate Convergence held a second successful large banner drop at Burnaby Mountain to alert the community that Trans Mountain is starting to drill a massive 2.6km tunnel through the mountain. Our two huge new hand painted banners, created by a team of twenty Climate Convergence activists saying, “TMX – DON’T DRILL BURNABY MOUNTAIN!” and “WE CAN STOP THE TMX PIPELINE!” continue to get great support from the many people, bicycles, and cars passing by.

This past week it was announced that the Keystone XL pipeline has been cancelled for good! This significant victory comes after a decade long struggle in the U.S. by thousands of Indigenous people, farmers, and environmental activists. This is not just a great victory for all of us but also an important reminder to all of us that that we must keep up the pressure and continue to build resistance to the Trans Mountain Expansion (TMX) pipeline.

Now is the time to keep mobilizing community and build broad support to stop the drilling and stop the TMX pipeline once and for all!

This event takes place on the unceded traditional territories of the Coast Salish peoples of the səlil̓wətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
